Welcome

A few words about my practice

I came to Bowen therapy after a long career as a Registered Nurse — most of it in Intensive Care. Years at the hospital bedside gave me a working understanding of the body: how it holds stress, how it heals, and what it needs to do that work.

When I experienced Bowen therapy for myself, I knew this was the work I wanted to do next. I'm trained in Bowtech — the original Bowen technique developed by Tom Bowen in Geelong in the 1950s — and currently training in McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release (MSTR), with bookings opening once qualified.

What I offer

Two ways I can help your body settle

Both are gentle and work with your body's own healing response. Each is offered as a separate, standalone treatment — Bowen Therapy is open for bookings now; MSTR opens mid-2026.

Relaxation · Recovery

Bowen Therapy

Gentle rolling moves over fascia, muscle and tendon, followed by strategic pauses. Treats the root cause, not just the symptoms. Suitable for newborns through to the elderly.

McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release

A separate, standalone treatment — gentle, hands-on work for releasing surgical, traumatic, c-section or mastectomy scars. Booked on its own, not combined with Bowen. Available mid-2026 once my qualification is complete — case study spots open now.

Who I work with

If your body has been carrying tension you've stopped noticing

Bowen therapy works gently and broadly. These are the people most often on my table.

Living with chronic pain

Long-standing back, neck, shoulder, jaw or sciatic pain that hasn't shifted with other approaches.

Tradies & physical workers

Wear-and-tear from manual work — back, knees, hips, shoulders. Bowen restores movement without aggravating tired tissue.

Stressed & depleted

Burned-out, sleeping poorly, holding everything in your shoulders. A session is a quiet space to settle the nervous system.

Sports people

Supports recovery from acute and chronic sporting injuries — gentle enough between training sessions, effective enough to keep you moving.

Pregnancy

Helping mums to ease the aches of pregnancy and prepare for childbirth. Safe, gentle support through every trimester.

Take a moment for yourself

Let me help release the stress and tension

Most people come to me carrying tension they've stopped noticing — in their shoulders, their jaw, their lower back. A session is quiet and slow. You'll lie on the table, comfortable in light clothing, and I'll work in short, gentle bursts with rest in between. Most people leave feeling lighter than they expected.

Common questions

Things people ask before their first session

What is Bowen Therapy and what does it feel like?

Bowen Therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique that uses small rolling movements over specific points on the body — across muscle, tendon, and fascia — followed by strategic pauses. It is light pressure, never forceful. Most people describe a session as deeply relaxing; you may find yourself drifting off. The pauses between moves are when your body does the work — processing the input and beginning its own healing response.

What can Bowen Therapy help with?

Bowen is used for both acute and chronic conditions — back, neck and shoulder pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, frozen shoulder, jaw tension, knee, ankle and foot issues, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, digestive and bowel issues, respiratory issues, pregnancy support, sporting injuries, the wear-and-tear of physical work, stress and tension, and recovery support. It works with your body, not against it, and can be used safely on newborns through to the elderly.

How many sessions will I need?

Many people feel a shift after just one or two sessions. For longer-standing or more complex issues, three to four sessions spaced about a week apart is a common starting point. After your first session I'll give you an honest read of what to expect and we'll plan from there. There's no obligation to book a course up front.

Do I need to undress?

Generally no — Bowen can be performed through light, comfortable clothing. Wear something soft and stretchy — loose leggings, loose trousers or shorts, and a light t-shirt are ideal. Avoid jeans, belts, and bulky layers.

What's the difference between Bowen Therapy and massage?

Massage typically applies sustained pressure to release muscle tissue. Bowen uses small, precise rolling moves and then pauses — letting your nervous system register the input and respond. It is far gentler than remedial massage but often produces deeper, longer-lasting changes because it works with your body's own self-correcting systems.

Can I have a massage on the same day as Bowen Therapy?

We recommend waiting a minimum of five days after a Bowen session before any other bodywork — including massage and MSTR — as it may overload the nervous system and interrupt the Bowen reset. Bowen continues to work in the days after your session, and other hands-on therapies during that window can disrupt the response.

What is MSTR (McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release)?

MSTR is a separate, standalone treatment for releasing scar tissue from surgery, c-section, mastectomy, joint replacement, or trauma. It is a gentle, hands-on technique that can ease pain, restore range of movement, and improve the look and feel of scar tissue. MSTR is booked on its own, not combined with Bowen. It's coming soon to Bowen Bliss Healing Collective once Michelle's training and case study requirements are complete — case study spots are available now.

What about my Opening Special and pensioner discount?
